Scammers sometimes pretend to be software companies, and creators are a favorite target. This page lists the only places Influencer Butler communicates from, what we will never ask you for, how to check that a download is genuine, and how to report something suspicious.
Our only official websites
If a link does not go to one of these exact addresses, it is not us.
- www.influencerbutler.com: Our website, your account and dashboard, help and tutorials.
- dl.influencerbutler.com: Where the Windows and Mac apps are downloaded from.
- links.influencerbutler.com: Short links and pages created by our customers with Butler Links. We do not control what a customer publishes there, so treat it like any other link someone sends you.
- licensing.influencerbutler.com: The service the desktop app talks to behind the scenes to activate your license. It is not a page to type your details into.
Look-alike addresses (extra words, swapped letters, a different ending such as .co or .net, or our name placed before another domain) are not ours.
Our only official email senders
Every email we send comes from one of these addresses:
- hello@influencerbutler.com: General messages, sign-in links and account emails.
- support@influencerbutler.com: Replies from our support team.
- affiliates@influencerbutler.com: Affiliate program messages and payout statements.
Sign-in links we email you always point to www.influencerbutler.com. If a link in a message that claims to be from us goes anywhere else, do not click it.
What we will never ask you for
We will never ask you for any of the following by email, direct message, text message or phone:
- Your password.
- Your full license key.
- Card numbers or other payment details.
- A code or sign-in link that was sent to you.
- Remote access to your computer.
If you did hand any of these to someone you should not have, change your password right away, tell us at security@influencerbutler.com, and contact your card issuer if payment details were involved.
How to check that the app is genuine
Only download the app from www.influencerbutler.com/download, which sends you to dl.influencerbutler.com. Then check it before you run it.
On Windows
- Right-click the installer file and choose Properties.
- Open the Digital Signatures tab. If there is no such tab, the file is not signed. Do not run it.
- Select the signature and click Details. The signer name must be THE SOCIAL MEDIA POSSE LLC and the status must say the digital signature is OK.
On Mac
The Mac app is notarized by Apple, so it should open normally after you drag it into Applications. If macOS says it cannot verify the app, delete the file, download it again from the official address, and contact us if it keeps happening.
If the signer name is different, the signature is missing, or the file came from anywhere other than our official download address, delete it and report it to us.
Report a security problem or a scam
Email security@influencerbutler.com. For a suspicious message, forward it with its full headers if you can, or send a screenshot that shows the sender address and the link. For a vulnerability, tell us what you found, the steps to reproduce it and the page or endpoint involved, and please give us reasonable time to fix it before you share it publicly. Please do not access, change or delete other people's data while testing.
Our machine-readable contact details are published at /.well-known/security.txt.
