Building a storefront people actually browse

Set up your Amazon storefront: name, photo, idea lists, and how to organize products so visitors buy instead of bouncing.

๐Ÿช What your storefront is for

Your storefront is your personal page on Amazon (amazon.com/shop/yourhandle). Everything bought through it earns you standard affiliate commissions, and unlike onsite videos, it earns on the whole cart journey the visit starts.

Be clear-eyed about it: without an audience sending traffic, a storefront mostly earns when you share it deliberately. It is your home base, not a passive income machine. Onsite videos earn from Amazon's traffic; the storefront earns from yours.

โฑ๏ธ The 30-minute setup

  1. Handle and name: use the same name as your social accounts so people can find you. You can change these later, but consistency from day one is easier.
  2. Profile photo and banner: your face or a clean logo, plus a banner that says what you cover ("Kitchen finds and honest reviews").
  3. Bio line: one sentence, who you help and how. "Real reviews of home and kitchen gear I actually use."

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Idea lists: the actual content of your storefront

Idea lists are themed collections of products ("Small Kitchen Essentials," "Puppy Starter Kit," "Desk Setup Under Control"). They are what visitors browse, and each product in them is a commission opportunity.

What works:

  • Specific themes beat generic ones. "Gifts" is a wall of noise; "Gifts for coffee people who have everything" gets browsed.
  • Only include products you can vouch for. Your storefront is your reputation. One junk product poisons trust in the other twenty.
  • 8 to 15 products per list is the browsable sweet spot.
  • Seasonal lists earn in bursts: back to school, holiday gifts, summer prep. Make them two or three weeks before the season peaks.

Create one, click by click

  1. Open your storefront (amazon.com/shop/yourhandle while signed in) and click Create content, then Idea List. That opens the Idea List creator at amazon.com/create/collection.
  2. Title it the way a shopper would search for it. Amazon's own placeholder is "My Essentials for Hiking in the Desert": that specific. Name the niche and who it is for.
  3. Click Add products. You can pull from three sources: Your orders (searchable, and exactly where "products you can vouch for" live), your Browse history, or products already on your other Idea Lists. Tick the checkboxes (at least two products are required) and click Done.
  4. Under each product, fill in "What do you like about this product?" in one or two sentences. This is the highest-value field on the page: give the specific reason you kept it. "Survived two summers of camping trips" beats "great quality" every time.
  5. Add the description. There is a Generate AI description button and it writes a serviceable line, but edit it so it sounds like you, and double-check what it claims: Amazon itself reminds you AI text needs an accuracy check, and it is your name on the list.
  6. Click Save. The button stays inactive until you have a title and at least two products, so if it looks dead, one of those two is missing.

๐ŸŽฅ Your videos live here too

Videos you upload also appear on your storefront, so an active video habit keeps the storefront fresh automatically. Visitors who watch a video on your storefront and buy generate commissions the same way.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Sharing without being obnoxious

  • Put the storefront link in every social bio you have
  • When someone asks "where did you get that?", answer with the storefront or the specific product from it
  • Mention it naturally in content ("everything I showed is on my storefront")
  • QR code on a business card if you do anything in person

What does not work: spamming the bare link into Facebook groups. (When you are further along, affiliate-link automation for deals pages and groups is its own topic; Module 10 touches it.)

โœ… Do this now

Set up the storefront basics and publish your first idea list, even with just eight products. A live imperfect storefront beats a perfect imaginary one.

Module 8: reading your reports without letting them eat your brain.
