What the Amazon Influencer Program is (and how you get paid)

The difference between the Influencer Program and Associates, what onsite placement means, and where the money actually comes from.

โšก The one-paragraph version

The Amazon Influencer Program lets you earn commissions on Amazon products two ways: through your own storefront (a personal page of products you recommend) and through onsite placement (your product review videos appearing directly on Amazon product pages). When a shopper watches your video or clicks your recommendation and buys, you earn a percentage of the sale. Amazon pays you monthly, about 60 days behind.

๐Ÿ”€ Influencer Program vs Associates: know the difference

People confuse these constantly, so get it straight now:

  • Amazon Associates is the classic affiliate program: you get links, you share them on your blog or social media, and you earn when people click your link and buy. You need somewhere to send traffic from.
  • The Amazon Influencer Program is Associates plus two big upgrades: a storefront page on Amazon itself, and (after a second approval) the ability to have your videos shown on Amazon product pages to shoppers you never met.

Onsite placement is the game changer. Your video plays on the product page under "Videos for this product," and if the shopper buys the product (or certain related ones) after watching, you earn a commission. You did not need followers, traffic, or a posting schedule. Amazon supplied the shopper; you supplied the honest review.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Where the money comes from

Three main earning streams, in the order they usually start paying:

  1. Onsite commissions: shoppers watch your video on a product page and buy. Rates are lower than standard affiliate rates (think a percent or two on many categories), but the volume can be large because Amazon shows your videos to real shoppers around the clock.
  2. Storefront commissions: someone visits your storefront (from your social bio, a QR code, wherever) and buys anything through it at standard Associates rates.
  3. Brand deals and bounties: once you have a track record, brands pay for placements, and Amazon runs bounty programs (fixed payments for sign-ups to services like Audible or Prime). Amazon's Creator Connections program also lets brands offer you extra commission rates on their products.

A realistic shape for a beginner: onsite earnings start as cents per day, grow to dollars per day as your video library grows, and compound from there. Storefront earnings depend on whether you have any audience at all; without one, treat the storefront as a bonus, not the plan.

๐Ÿ†“ What it costs

Nothing. Applying is free, participating is free. Your only investments are time and products you already own. Anyone who wants to charge you to "unlock" the program itself is selling you something you can get for free.
