Messenger Butler — Instagram DMs to creators you discover

Send personalized opening DMs to the creators you've added to Instagram Butler's queue.

What Messenger Butler does

Messenger Butler is the outreach arm of the Instagram stack. Instagram Butler discovers creators that fit your niche; Messenger Butler reaches out to them. The two are split deliberately — discovery is read-only, outreach is write-side, and you can tune them independently.

Prerequisites

  • Instagram Butler has populated the queue with at least one creator. Discovery has to run first.
  • You're signed in to Instagram in the Chrome window Butler spawns. There is no separate auth flow — Butler uses your existing session.

First run

  1. Open Messenger Butler in the left nav.
  2. In Message templates, pick a template (or write one). Use the {handle} and {followers} placeholders for personalization — they're substituted per-creator at send time.
  3. Set the Daily DM cap conservatively for the first day: 10 DMs is a good starting point.
  4. Click Start Messenger Butler.

The runner pauses between sends with jitter to look human. You'll see each send in the Recent activity stream.

Tuning safely

Instagram is aggressive about DM volume — pushing too hard gets your account flagged. Some rules of thumb:

  • Stay under 50 DMs/day on a fresh account. Older, more active accounts can push 80–100.
  • Vary message templates — Instagram detects identical-text DMs. Keep three or four templates rotating.
  • Watch the topbar API Health badge. If it turns yellow, slow down — that means Butler detected rate-limiting signals.

Common gotchas

  • "Send button is greyed out" — usually means Instagram is showing a verification prompt. Open the Chrome window Butler spawned, complete the prompt, and resume.
  • Messages going to message requests instead of inbox — that's an Instagram-side decision based on whether the creator follows you. Not something Butler can fix.
